“Art and creation have been a common thread throughout my life. It is where I get my nourishment and it is where I land, reflect and express myself. Feelings are important. But they are also complex. They manifest themselves in different ways from person to person and from occasion to occasion and can look different on the outside but on the inside they can still be the same size.
In my art, I primarily explore the small and subtle external expression of a larger feeling on the inside; that nerve that leads inward to the core, where the truth resides. Then we have that thing about what is beautiful or not... The world as such, in its entirety, is beautiful, but the content can often seem ugly and miserable and it is therefore easy to get caught up in the dark content, because it is in the way we can be, we humans, that we easily focus on the negative. Therefore, in my art, I place a great focus on highlighting the beautiful – even transforming something normatively ugly into something beautiful – because I think it inspires hope and faith and encourages understanding, for others but not least for ourselves. That the sad, twisted, affected, hopeless and broken can be beautiful and valuable, because it contains so much and gives us valuable information and knowledge to develop. And sometimes a little humor is also needed. To giggle in the middle of it all. It can be both healing and liberating. Not in the way that we laugh hysterically and then choke on the laughter because we don't dare cry.
