From October 17, 2025 to March 2, 2026, the Fondation Louis Vuitton presents a comprehensive retrospective of the works of Gerhard Richter – one of the most influential contemporary artists. Born in Dresden in 1932, Richter fled East Germany to Düsseldorf in 1961 before settling in Cologne, where he currently lives and works.

Marita Damkröger

Unlike the usual watercolor technique, Damkroger does not let the colors blend into each other, but rather they remain sealed in the individual layers. The strong colors are gradually muted by the number of individual layers on top of each other. In a similar way, the graphic works have been created; each layer of color has been isolated and placed on top of the other, and their respective transparency has created an expression of constant movement and presence.

Together with the publisher, the new series consisting of 3 motifs has been printed both on white paper and on Somerset Velvet Black, and the same motif has then been given a completely different expression.
