I work imaginatively and inspired by Renaissance portraiture, among other things, I dress up my sculptures and add another dimension to the expression by creating an atmosphere around the main object with various props, clothing and the like. The materials I make the sculptures in are wax, plastic, silicone and bronze. For some time I have worked on experimenting with scales and going up and down in format. I have especially tried to enlarge greatly, to see how the expression changes depending on whether the size of the sculpture is understated or exaggerated. Perhaps I have a fascination for the untried, the incipient. My series of animals is a sample of a curiosity in me for original, primitive mammals. - Hanna Beling
