MARITA DAMKRÖGER
ABSTRACT | Movement & Stillness
Damkröger's graphic works are being shown for the first time at the gallery and presented at the Art Karlsruhe art fair in Germany. She works by layering up to a hundred transparent, large-scale layers of paint on top of each other. Unlike the usual watercolor technique, the colors do not flow into each other, but rather remain sealed in the individual layers. The clear pigments are gradually muted by the number of individual layers on top of each other. The latest graphic series has been created using the same technique, where each layer is created separately.
