About Maria Zetterstrand's work

'In my artistic work, I explore the relationship of objects to their surroundings. I seek the intangible, something I sense exists in everyday interaction. Material things meet human routines. Objects create identity and shape everyday life. With repeated care, I highlight short sequences from daily being and doing in a spatial context where I relate to architecture, nature and its actors.' - Maria Zetterstrand
Her work is based on reflections on the material; clay. An ancient material that has been used by humans since the beginning of their existence. Through her works, Zetterstrand wants to create a point of gravity that, regardless of mood, can give the viewer a sense of calm and order.
Folding is a part of our everyday life that we as humans have in common with our ancestors and also future generations. Folding itself is part of an everyday routine that we do not give much thought to. Something that we do automatically. But it is precisely this routine that we long for in times of war, natural disasters or decisive events in an individual's life. Suddenly we realize how much the everyday routine is worth. With her work, Maria Zetterstrand wants to give the viewer a point of calm, in an external or internal chaotic state, one can find a physical point that, through its weight and unwavering material, radiates order and peace of mind. A kind of anti-dramatic, silent contemplation.

SHORELINE

23 apr - 10 maj
